Alta is a privately owned company formed in 2000 as a high-technology spinout from QUB, with QUB's commercial investment arm QUBIS as an investor in the company.
Professor Fred McBride, BSc, MSc, PhD, CEng, FBCS, CITP, Emeritus Professor (QUB). At QUB, Professor McBride was an Honorary Lecturer in Computer Science, Honorary Professor of Education, Director of Computing Services and (founding) Director of the Institute of Computer Based Learning, with academic interests including adaptive learning, teaching and assessment systems; conceptual programming tools for mathematics; and models of processes in polymer chemistry.
